Our Story
The Chrome Institute of Cosmetology was founded in 2018 by notable precision hair cutter, stylist and salon owner Becky Chambers and her husband, Johnny Chambers who is a renowned colorist, licensed cosmetology instructor and salon owner.
The Chambers opened the much anticipated Chrome Salon of Media in November of 2012 and won best new business of Media in 2012 after being opened 2 short months. Becky put together an amazing team at Chrome and together with her team continued to grow the salon year after year, becoming one of the most talked about salons in Delaware County.
Johnny spent his day working at all the major Cosmetology Schools in the area. He did it all in the school setting from teaching to school director, and attended annual meetings for the American Association of Cosmetology Schools “AACS” and the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts & Sciences “NACCAS”.
In March 2017, the Chambers opened their second salon location, Chrome Salon of Chadds Ford. They grew the second location by instilling the same business practice that made them notable in their Media location. The Chambers saw while their salons had amazing talent, the new talent coming from Cosmetology school had to be re-trained to the products and techniques used at the salon. They quickly discovered a need for a “unique cosmetology school”, one that was inclusive and not exclusive, one that taught all major brands and techniques and not just singularly focused on one...
Out of this The Chrome Institute of Cosmetology was born.

Johnny Chambers
School Owner and Director
Johnny Chambers is the School Owner and Director here at Chrome Institute of Cosmetology. Johnny Has over 15 years of industry experience! Johnny is a Renowned Colorist and loves pushing the envelope when it come to color formulation! Johnny loves the salon however his first love is education! Johnny has pretty much done it all, when it comes to working at a cosmetology school. He has taught all levels as well as proctored for the State Board Exam. Johnny also was a school director overseeing every aspect of a cosmetology school from securing accreditation with NACCAS, to providing a first class education experience for his students! Johnny really enjoys mentoring and coaching our industries finest students. When Johnny opened the Chrome Institute of Cosmetology he set out to change the Industry and the way our Future stylist are educated! Along with his amazing team, Johnny will guarantee that you get the very finest education you can possibly get! When Johnny is not at the school or the salon you can most likely catch him at a local car show with his brother, or hanging out with his wife, Daughter, and his dogs!
John Chambers Sr
Director of Operations
John Chambers Sr is the Director of Operations here at Chrome institute of Cosmetology. John Sr has over 40 years of experience owning and operating a union sheet metal business. After John Sr retired from Local 19 he picked up selling bikes at a Harley Davidson dealership. 5 years later John Sr decided to return to the operations department to assist his sons, (Johnny and Joey) with running The Chrome Institute of Cosmetology. During his free time John Sr enjoys time with his family down the beach on the boat!
Joey Chambers
Director of Admissions
Joey Chambers is the Director of Admissions here at Chrome Institute of Cosmetology. Joey has been exposed to the Cosmetology Field ever since he was a child. Joey has many family members who have been in the business since he was born. Joey attended Delaware County Technical Schools during his high school career to obtain his Cosmetology License. Joey attended Chrome's instructor course. He is now also a licensed Cosmetology instructor! While in high school he worked for his brother John, and Sister in Law Becky's Salon as an assistant. Joey Enjoys touring our school and explaining why The Chrome Institute of Cosmetology is the place to go! During his free time Joey enjoys working on his car and taking it to shows!
Lorie Kaplan
Director of Education / Clinic Floor Supervisor
Lorie Kaplan is the Director of Education here at Chrome Institute of Cosmetology. With over 30 years of experience educating, mentoring and coaching our industries finest professionals, Lorie takes pride in the fantastic work created by her future professionals and feels that continuing education is the key to success. Lorie has always strived to be up on all the current trends of this constantly changing industry and presenting that information in a way that is educational and fun for all learning styles.

Karen Popp
Esthetician Instructor
Karen began her esthetics journey in 2016 by working for the skin care education and marketing platform, the Esthetician Connection in Waxhaw, North Carolina. While working under a CIDESCO esthetician, she discovered her love for all things skin care from advanced modalities to specialty treatments. She moved back to her hometown in Chester County with her family of 6 during the pandemic in 2020. After working as a skin therapist at Massage Envy, Karen decided to pursue her love of teaching and received her esthetic teachers license. She is a recipient of the Dermalogica Elevate your Education Scholarship where she attained their highest level, Expert status. Karen also had the privilege to become certified in airbrush make-up from Dina Ousley, the owner of Dinair in Hollywood, California.
Rita Chambers
Front Desk Coordinator
Rita Chambers is the Front Desk Coordinator here at Chrome Institute of Cosmetology. Rita, a mom of 6 children and a retired Pre - K School teacher of 28 years enjoys spending her days here now! Rita is very involved with the students and loves chatting with them throughout the day!! She also assists our clients with booking their appointments for services with the students! When Rita is not here at Chrome she spends time visiting her horse, Rosie! She spends her summer months down the beach with John Sr, and their 11 Grand Children!
